In “Fort Clatsop Revisited: The Hunt for the Elusive Pickets”, Glen Kirkpatrick describes the result of many years’ sleuthing, suggesting where archeologists may find extant remnants of Fort Clatsop—the bases of the pickets that protected the downhill side. Extensively footnoted and illustrated with maps, diagrams, and photos from the 1899 survey by the Oregon Historical Society, the article makes a convincing case for the pickets’ location and calls for further investigation using ground-penetrating radar. Glen brings his background as a geologist and a longtime Expedition scholar to this important new finding.
