Chapters in the Pacific Northwest Region

Presidents' Letter

Greetings from your three chapter presidents: Laurie Brown, Idaho; Glen Kirkpatrick, Oregon; and Steve Wang, Washington.

Our three chapters have always shared a physical closeness — up here in the northwest corner of the lower 48 — and now we share an even closer bond as we are drawn together to make up the new Pacific Northwest Region of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation. Together, we would like to welcome you to the inauguration of our new Region.

The Pacific Northwest Region has been formed, and the leadership has been meeting on a regular basis. The goal of the Regional Board is to take the administrative load from the Chapters and place it with the Regional Board. This gives our Chapters the freedom to do what they do best, provide excellent programs, lectures and field trips. We have taken the best features of the three Chapters and are reworking them to fit a Regional model.

Working together, we will be able to offer informative meetings, great activities, and enticing field trips throughout the three-state region.

Everyone is welcome to join any of our meetings and activities, and Events are upcoming in each state.

We encourage you all to think beyond the traditional view of state boundaries and consider Lewis and Clark in the great Pacific Northwest! Together we can experience some of the greatest stories of the Expedition.

Join us throughout the year as we learn about, re-enact, experience, and visit sites as we explore the world of Lewis & Clark. It is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and enjoy the fellowship of our Chapters’ members. As we proceed on, we hope to see you on the rivers or trails across the Pacific Northwest. Our Expedition is just beginning.
